Eating out is expected to grow by 83 million visits in 2018, with burgers and casual dining being key drivers[1]. What’s more, delivery services are expected to continue to expand rapidly and are projected to grow an additional 101 million visits and £656m consumer spend by 2019[2].

With this in mind, Deliveroo has revealed the top 100 most-ordered dishes from around the world in 2017. Out of the nine most popular dishes in the UK, five were burgers, illustrating consumer’s hunger for burgers shows no sign of stopping. These include Five Guys’ Cheeseburger, GBK’s Cheese 6oz American Cheeseburger, The Meating Room (St Albans) St Peter’s Burger, Byron’s Byron Burger and MEATLiquor’s Dead Hippie Burger. Moreover, the most ordered dish in the world is the Les Fernandines cheeseburger from Big Fernand in Lille, France.

The majority of most popular burgers are cheeseburgers, but the consumer trend for innovative and original fillings is not slowing. With 54% of people seeing customisable toppings as indicative of a ‘gourmet’ burger[3], getting the optional extras right is a great way to add premium to your offer. Big Al’s has some delicious burgers in its portfolio – the Big Al’s Prime Burger, the Big Al’s Flame Cooked 4oz Beef Burger and the Big Al’s Flame Cooked 6oz Beef Burger. Big Al’s flame cooked burgers are fully cooked and can be cooked from frozen in minutes, meaning no professional kitchen is required and all patties are consistent in quality. The Prime Burger is Big Al’s first raw product, made with 100% grass–fed beef, fully traceable from farm to fork and created using the chuck and brisket cuts of meat.
